Former Pixar Animator Creates Best-Selling iPad eBook

News Posted by Andrew Podolsky, July 13th, 2011

We've covered a few notable eBooks before-- not those stodgy, traditional tomes available in the iBooks Store, but rather the creatively animated eBooks 2.0 like Bram Stoker's Dracula and A Christmas Carol. Recently, another fanciful eBook has caught on in the App Store: Pixar designer William Joyce's The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore.

The eBook, which costs $4.99, has interactive elements and Pixar-quality animation throughout, and is based on an award-winning short film. It may be ironic that a children's story celebrating books has found its voice through film and tablet computers, but hey, whatever gets kids reading.

Check out the trailer below to see just why this iPad app is getting so much attention, and performing so well on the App Store. We can't wait to see what Moonbot Studios comes up with next.
