Earlier today, Rovio released a headline regarding mass awareness of a certain avian variety. Specifically, the Angry Birds franchise now boasts over one billion downloads. That’s a whole lot of birds, but you probably aren’t surprised. After all, earlier this week we reported on Rovio’s big success with its Angry Birds merchandising efforts. A billion game downloads seems like mere chicken feed.

Streaming-game service Gaikai has announced that it has teamed up with Wikipad for a gaming-focused tablet. Gaikai offers high-quality console-gaming through the cloud, while Wikipad features gamepad-like controls (pictured below) that envelop a tablet PC. Gaikai games on Wikipad can also be viewed on televisions that support WiDi.

According to comScore's Device Essentials, more than half the Google Android tablets in the U.S. are Amazon Kindle Fires. The precise figure is 54.4 percent in February 2012. Samsung has announced that its Exynos 4 Quad system-on-a-chip will power the upcoming Galaxy S 3 phone. The Galaxy SII offered great performance and competed well with the iPhone 4S in 2011. The Galaxy S3 is expected to compete well with the next iPhone. The Exynos 4 Quad is a quad-core chip made with a 32nm process. It runs at 1.4GHz, and is based on ARM Cortex A9 technology. Social networking service Klout has released an official iOS app called Klout for iPhone (original, hey?). Klout is an interesting product that combines activity from other social networking services, runs it through a bunch of algorithms, and assigns a score. These scores can be a good way to measure and track social-network influence. Some people use Klout to brag about their Internet status and others use it as a tool to track the effectiveness of social networking techniques. Then there's a small subsection of Klout users that have turned the service into a game of its own.
Getting lots of attention on Kickstarter, Brydge is an accessory that offers protection and a full-sized keyboard for the Apple iPad. The base model is made from machined aluminum.
