The Padvance 2011 Holiday Gift Guide continues with some of the best bags you can buy for your iPad or Android tablet. The selection include two versatile bags that offer style and protection for both a laptop computer and a tablet. A small and sleek bag solely for tablets is also included. Whether you're looking for a messenger bag, a backpack, or a man-purse, your bases are covered.
Timbuk2 Commute 2.0

Timbuk2 makes some of the best messenger bags in the world. The company blends sturdy protection, useful features, and a distinct style. I've been using Timbuk2 messenger bags for about a decade and can't recommend them enough. The crazy part is that the company keeps improving its designs and adding features, making its already great products event better. In fact, I'm not sure the company can do better than the Commute 2.0. It's pretty much the perfect messenger bag for tech geeks.
In addition to being well crafted from durable materials, the Commute 2.0 has several features that will appeal to tech travelers. The back panel has a padded compartment for a laptop and a Velcro-covered panel that's perfect for an iPad. The bag is TSA-compliant too, which helps speed up the oh-so-annoying security-screening process at the airport. After you've cleared security, you can place the Commute 2.0 on top of your roller bag thanks to its convenient pass-through sleeve. The main compartment is roomy and there several smaller panels for easy access. Like I said earlier, this is pretty much the perfect messenger bag.
Case Logic 17.3" Laptop Backpack

If you're more of a backpack guy (or gal) than a messenger-bag guy (or gal) then I highly recommend Case Logic's 17.3" Laptop Backpack. The tablet-friendly feature with this bag is its back compartment; it contains two separate padded enclosures -- one for a laptop and one for a tablet. It's an uncommon feature that's so, so smart.
Getting past that, this is just a fantastic backpack. There are tons of pockets that will help you organize your gear. I'm particularly fond of the lumbar pocket, which I use to stash my boarding pass and passport when traveling. The compression straps are another excellent feature; these can be used to secure a rolled up hoodie or jacket.
The Case Logic 17.3" Laptop Backpack is a versatile and functional way to protect both your precious laptop and your dear tablet computer.
Sumdex Netbook Messenger

Although it was designed for netbooks (remember those?), the Sumdex Netbook Messenger works extremely well for an iPad or Android tablet. This is the smallest bag in the group and ideal for when your just need your iPad. It has a padded compartment for your tablet and several other pockets to help you stay organized.
I love the smooth lines and minimalistic style of this bag. Its size works for people of all sizes, though it's small enough that guys will be accused of carrying a man-purse. If you can get passed that lame insult then you'll enjoy a sleek bag that looks great while keeping your iPad protected.
