While the initial iPad hype is starting to fade, there's still plenty of daily news out there for you to devour. We are compiling the top stories of the day to give you bite-size chunks of news we think you'll want to know about. Keep reading to learn about initial app sales estimates, Hulu's pricing plan, and another reason why Apple might reject your app.
iPad More Popular Than Kindle?
Mashable recently asked its readers by what means they prefer to read books. The choices were the iPad, Amazon's Kindle, and conventional paper books. The results may surprise you. Even though the iPad is new to the game, a whopping 48% choose iBooks. A still impressive 36% choose the Kindle (which could still be on the iPad), and a paltry 11% still prefer to read the old-fashioned way. What books have you downloaded lately?
Guess What? iPad Apps are Profitable
Vimov, basing their estimates on how their Weather HD app has sold, is figuring that the top downloaded apps are making as much as $372,649 per day in the App Store. These numbers are of course estimates only, and one must take into account that the iPad is in less than one million hands in the U.S. and that app sales tend to slump after initial release. It's a good read, though, and points to future prosperity for all you developers out there.
Hulu is Coming...For Just $9.95
The LA Times is reporting that the long-awaited Hulu app could be just around the bend, but it could cost you $9.95 a month via Hulu Plus, at least if you want to get the good shows and in a timely manner. At minimum, you might only get the five most recent episodes of your favorite shows for free. May 24 is the tentative day to mark on your calendar for Hulu bliss on the iPad.

Perhaps your app should do more than tell the time.
Want Apple's Acceptance? Better Beef Up That App...
A developer of an analog clock app was recently turned down by Apple when he submitted his app for approval. The reason? The app was too basic: Apple wants the app to offer additional functionality. I guess this should be a lesson to any of us trying to make a quick buck off the initial iPad excitement.
