Apparently a sneaky block of code buried in iOS 4 may provide crucial hints about the future of Apple and Verizon and a new iPad. Granted, these are the rumors that just won't die, but that doesn't mean they aren't true; it just means they may take awhile to become true. After all, it took a decade for the iPad rumors to produce an actual device. So, what of this new Verizon rumor and a new iPad?
Boy Genius Report has uncovered, via one of their sources, a snippet of code that hints at some ongoing testing of devices that technically don't yet exist: a CMDA (Verizon) iPhone and a new iPad.

Everyone loves finding buried treasure.
The code allows a CMDA iPhone and a new iPad model to self-activate; that is, it doesn't need to connect to iTunes first (a required step in setting up both devices). The purpose for this, allegedly, is for testing unreleased devices. This block of code is then removed when the products get released and a new firmware goes live that omits the code.
Is this true? Who knows. We are all expecting an iPad upgrade by next year, one that will incorporate, more than likely, a retina-style display and multiple cameras, among other additions. You'll know as soon as we know.
