Remember last year when an iPhone 4 prototype got left behind at a bar, finding its way into the hands of Gizmodo, and thus being revealed to the world before Steve Jobs could take the stage to do so? Well, that has almost happened again.
We say almost, because while a prototype iPhone has apparently yet again been lost in a bar, this one is remaining more elusive. According to CNET yesterday, the phone (of unknown build and version of iOS) was lost at a San Francisco bar called Cava 22 and was subsequently sold on Craigslist for $200.
To make a long story short, Apple, the police, and CNET have all been working to track down the device, which they claim to have traced to a house in the city, only to come up empty handed after questioning and a thorough search.
Beyond these sparse details, no one is commenting further on the situation, and no photos of the device have surfaced on the Internet.
It's another unfortunate turn of events, and perplexing that it could happen yet again. Thankfully for Apple, no prototype iPads have been lost in the wild, but then again, it's probably much harder to lose track of a device that is so much larger than a phone.
