First, a disclaimer. If you want to jailbreak your shiny iOS device, that’s your own business. We here at Padvance do not condone your actions, nor do we support them. Buy hey, it’s your stuff, and you can do what you want with it. Just don’t blame us if everything goes wrong and you end up on fire or something.
With that in mind, it looks like the iOS 6 is about to be sprung. Hackers working on the project have tweaked the last bits of code and are now waiting for the official release of iOS 6.1, which could be in a matter of days.
There’s no point shipping a jail break before the next official update rolls out, because any exploits used to circumvent Apple security could be counteracted in the new OS. Speaking to Cult of Mac one of the hackers behind the jailbreak, Nikias Bassen, claimed that the hack was up and running on the latest beta version of iOS 6.1, and that they’re just waiting for the final version to be sent out to developers before they go live.
So if you want your fancy new iPad free from the shackles of Apple, you’re going to have to wait a little longer. Maybe even a couple of months if it turns out Apple has spotted the vulnerabilities and fixed them before the hackers could sneak in the back door.
